The Fertility Awareness Center has been teaching women and couples since 1981. My name is Ilene Richman, and I became the director when Barbara Feldman, the founder, died in 2001. I have been advocating and practicing Fertility Awareness since I first studied with Barbara in 1994.

In addition to my work teaching Fertility Awareness in New York and elsewhere, I am also the coordinator of an international network of non-religious teachers of Fertility Awareness (The Fertility Awareness Network). The vast majority of instructors in North America teach the method in a religious context. In this capacity, I answer inquiries from people seeking instruction, or who have other questions related to Fertility Awareness and Natural Family Planning. The Network also serves to provide support for professionals in the field.

I have done editing and proofreading for several excellent books. You can check out two of them, and their associated websites, here:

Since 2003, I have been working with the staff at Beth Israel's Continuum Center for Health and Healing, as part of the Holistic Fertility Care Group, which seeks to apply a multi-modality, natural approach to fertility problems.

In 2004, the Fertility Awareness Center incorporated as a non-profit. In the future, I hope to teach FAM in the Majority World (aka the Third World), where I believe there is tremendous need for this information. I am also participating in the development of a standardized curriculum for instructors. We do not yet have our tax-exempt status, but donations are very gratefully accepted, via snail mail or, using the above email address, via PayPal.
