Mentorship

For those who wish to become certified Fertility Awareness Educators, the most straightforward route is via a teacher training program. Three such programs are currently recognized by the Association of Fertility Awareness Professionals (AFAP, the organization where I serve as executive director). AFAP has undertaken a multi-year project of developing an independent certification process for people not attending one of those training programs. As of this writing, we have completed the first half of that process by creating the core competencies that specify the material we feel an entry level Fertility Awareness Educator needs to have mastered. We are currently working on the second half of the process, i.e. outlining how competency can be demonstrated. For those who wish to obtain certification through AFAP’s process, I am open to mentorship and assistance, on an hourly basis.

For additional information on the AFAP certification process, and on the general process of becoming a Fertility Awareness Educator, please visit the AFAP website.

Home School Classes (NYC)

Just about every client I’ve ever worked with has expressed disappointment, anger, and bewilderment that they never learned the basics of Fertility Awareness as a teenager. So when I had the opportunity to teach a Fertility Awareness based class on reproductive health and sexuality to a group of home schooled teenagers, I couldn’t say no. I created a curriculum consisting of 3 units: Adolescence and Sexual Development; Reproductive Health, Sex, and Sexuality; and Social Issues Related to Sex and Sexuality. A minimum of 6 girls* (suggested ages 15 – 17) is required. One-off presentations are also an option. Home school instruction is available in person in the New York City area and anywhere else by videoconference.

*Young people who are non-binary or transmasculine are welcome to inquire to see if this class would be a good fit for them.
